iPhone 18 leak reveals major chipset upgrade across all models
Significant processor boost expected with next year's iPhone 18 range

Although the iPhone 18 range is not expected to launch for another eighteen months, early predictions are already pointing towards major improvements. Recent reports indicate that all four models will see a notable boost in performance.
Industry experts anticipate that the iPhone 18 will be equipped with A20 chips manufactured using advanced 2-nanometre technology. For comparison, the current iPhone 16 models use A18 processors made with 3nm technology. Moving from 3nm to 2nm means more transistors can be fitted onto each chip, resulting in faster speeds and improved energy efficiency.
While iPhones typically become faster with each new release, this leap in manufacturing technology could bring substantial gains in processing power—potentially elevating the iPhone 18’s performance to an entirely new level.
What’s Next for iPhone 18 Chips?
There’s still some uncertainty about whether every iPhone 18 model will feature the advanced 2nm chip technology. Recent updates suggest growing optimism, but it’s possible that only the Pro and Pro Max versions will receive this upgrade.
Earlier this week, another industry analyst shared that the upcoming A20 chipsets might originally use a 3nm process, but there’s now a chance they’ll move to a more efficient 2nm design. Even so, it’s likely that both the manufacturer and its partners are still finalising these decisions, as the iPhone 18 isn’t expected to launch until September 2026. This leaves plenty of time for further improvements in the manufacturing process.
Meanwhile, anticipation is building for the iPhone 17 series, expected to debut in September 2025. These models are set to upgrade to A19 processors, which will continue to use the current 3nm technology.
